Pastor’s Weekly E-Mail – May 24, 2015

“We Can Change the World!”  Yes, we can!  With the help of God’s love and the power of the Holy Spirit, we have everything we need to make a difference – compassion, love, joy, peace, hope, and more.  Come to worship this Sunday, May 24 at 10:30 AM for a special experience of the Spirit’s power in our lives.  We will all witness the Confirmation of Austin Apgar and Jack Pyne, whom the Spirit has touched and led with discipleship.  They will take a role in the service and be honored at a reception afterwards (outside on the lawn, weather permitting).

“We Can Change the World” is also the theme of our 2015 “Animal Crackers” Vacation Bible School, June 14-18, grounded in the wonderful work of Heifer Project International.  Through Bible stories, songs, games, crafts, snack, and service, we will help to end poverty somewhere in the world.  We will collect a special offering for a Heifer (also a goat, sheep, and chickens if possible).  Come to VBS if you want to know more!

Our VBS is for children ages 3-11, with youth and adults welcome to participate as helpers.  Registration forms are now available at the church and online at our website,  The schedule is as follows:  Registration is Sunday, June 14 from 6-6:30 PM, and the Program Schedule is Sunday – Thursday 6:30-8:30 PM.

Don’t miss CHURCH MUSIC SUNDAY on June 7!!! Our worship at 10:30 AM will be filled with rocking and joyous song, with Lemonade on the Lawn to follow.  Come and show your appreciation to Carolyn Williams and our marvelous choir.

Summer worship schedule is just around the corner!  Beginning Sunday, June 14, our worship time will be 9:30 AM instead of 10:30, with Lemonade on the Lawn to follow.  Don’t be late!

I am finally taking a real vacation!  From May 27 to June 4, we will be in California for the wedding of our daughter, Sarah, to a wonderful future son-in-law, Tyson.  While I’m away, you can direct emergencies to Council Vice-President Lynn Gaun or call Pastor Tyler Rasmussen, who will be covering for pastoral emergencies.

Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend!
