Pastor’s Email Message for Christmas

Behold – Words of Great JOY!    “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light … a child has been born for us, a song given to us …” (Isaiah 9:2 & 6)

Come and See!  Come and Hear! Celebrate!

Sunday, December 21 – Advent IV at 10:30 AM is our Spark Sunday School Pageant, featuring music, words, and humor.  After worship, come and sing the Good News as we carol to the homebound.  Lunch at Helen Dungan’s first, then carpool from there.

Christmas Eve – Wednesday, December 24 – 5:00 PM “Comfort and Joy” – A Service for families with children, led by the youth of the congregation.  At 7:30 PM is our Candlelight Communion Service with special music from the Choir.

On Sunday, December 28 at 10:30 we have our annual Service of Lessons and Carols.  There will be Fellowship afterward, so please bring along some cookies to share.

On Sunday, January 4, 2015 is the first Holy Communion of the New Year!

Participate in the joy!  Share the Gift of Good News!  On Saturday, December 20th, starting at 9 AM, volunteers are needed to trim the trees and prepare the worship space for Christmas services.

Consider a special year-end gift to “Mission Support,” SEPA Synod and ELCA mission beyond the doors of ELC of Durham.  You can use the yellow Mission Support envelope in your 2014 envelope box and make your check payable to ELC of Durham with “Mission Support” in the memo line. If you don’t have an envelope box, just put your mission support check in the offering plate, just be sure it’s clearly marked for mission support.

Don’t forget!!!  The Living Nativity is this coming Saturday, December 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2170 Rt. 212 in Pleasant Valley.  Performances are at 5 and 7:30 PM and there are refreshments after each performance.

Blessed Christmas season and Happy New Year to all!  The Church Office will closed December 25-29 and December 29-January 3, 2015.
