Pastor’s Email Message for the Week Ending July 1

Very Special Worship the Next Two Sundays!!!

On Sunday, July 1, 2018  at 10:00 AM (Holy Communion) there will be a special presentation of music from some of the children attending our Pandamania Vacation Bible School this week.  The Bible School has been filled with enthusiasm, creativity, and lots of God’s love.  We reached out to 17 children – from Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham, St. Peter’s in Riegelsville, and the community – ages 3-11, as well as 7 youth and 12 adult helpers on our “Bamboo Crew.”  Our mission offering this year will go to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.  At worship on Sunday, there will be special envelopes so that you, too, can give to our VBS Mission offering for World Hunger.  Be there Sunday – to see the pandas (and more) hear the sounds – experience the love!

Also, this week Matthew Mueller has flown to Houston, Texas to join up with more than 30,000 other young people from the ELCA for “This Changes Everything,”  the ELCA National Youth Gathering.  There are several opportunities to livestream the Youth Gathering by visiting the Gathering website: or you can follow them on Twitter @elcagathering.

On Sunday, July 8, Matthew will be back to report on his experience, show us pictures, and preach the sermon!  This special service will be at 10 AM.  Matthew and his family appreciate the support the congregation has given to make this experience possible for him.  And he has committed himself to proclaiming to us what he has learned about the church, the world, God’s grace, and our Christian mission.  We’ll all look forward to welcoming Matthew back!
