Pastor’s Weekly E-mail Message – November 16, 2014

How are you managing what God has given you? Body, time, family, income, special talents??? This will be the focus of our worship for Sunday, November 16. The Gospel will be Jesus’ Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30, see below). We will be challenged to risk what we have been given for the sake of the kingdom of God.

Spark Sunday School and Confirmation Youth: Beginning November 16, we will be preparing for Christmas, learning all we can about the birth of Jesus, and getting ready to present our December 21 Christmas Program to the congregation. It’s important that you be there every Sunday between now and December 21st.

Code Blue Training for volunteers with the homeless is THIS Sunday, at 4 PM at West Swamp Mennonite Church. For directions to the church or more details, call me at 610-346-8314.

Are you collecting good gifts for the hungry and for children? You have several opportunities. The Community Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, November 23 at 4 PM at Christ Lutheran in Springtown. Non-perishable food and $$$ are being collected for the Lord’s Pantry. NEW clothes are being collected for kids at Martin Lutheran-Silver Spring School – hats, gloves, sweatshirts, and socks in both adult and children’s sizes S/M/L. A special basket is in the narthex for this clothing in case you can’t make it to the November 23rd Thanksgiving service but would still like to contribute. Finally, gifts are being collected for foster children served by Lutheran Children and Family Service. These gifts need to be brought in no later than December 7. Please call Helen Dungan at 610-346-8829 for the names of specific children and the gift desired.

Lastly, tickets are going fast for the free Community Holiday meal to be held on Saturday, December 6, at the Riegelsville Firehouse. Joe Hlavaty has the tickets. He’s available for the next 3 Sundays after worship, or you can call him to reserve tickets at 610-258-4574.
