Pastor’s Weekly E-Mail Message – October 12, 2014

Why is it so hard for us to include in our relationships, our activities, and our concerns those who are different?  Is it because they make us uncomfortable?  Is it because we judge them?  That seems to be our human nature.  We like to cluster around people who are like us, who agree with us.  Come to worship this Sunday, October 12, and hear what Jesus had to say about this tendency of ours.  He tells a story about the invitation list to a wedding reception.  But it’s really a story about the church and how we should live in God’s reign.  Sunday at 10:30 AM – don’t miss it!

Durham Community Day is Saturday, October 11 from 1 to 5:00 PM at the Old Mill on Durham Road.  I will be there, along with Lynn Gaun, Helen Dungan, and Tanya Naska.  We want to meet and greet our neighbors and share with them a little about our mission.  Can  you gather at our tables for an hour or so?  Call me at 610-346-8314 if you can.

The CROP Walk is less than two weeks away!  We have 20 men, women, youth, and children planning to walk the 1 or 6 mile course to help feed the hungry near and far away.  If you’d like to walk, come to worship this Sunday and pick up a pledge envelope.  If you’d like to sponsor our walkers, come and make your pladege on Sunday.  All checks should be made payable to “CWS/CROP”.

Mark your calendar now!  Our Annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service shared by Christ Lutheran and Salem United Methodist in Springtown, and Trinity UCC and Trinity Lutheran in Pleasant Valley, will be held on Sunday, November 23 at 4:00 PM at Christ Lutheran.  Which for more details!
