Pastor’s Weekly Email Message – November 22

Who is your leader?  Who is the foundation for your decisions and actions?  Is it a politician? Is it talk radio or cable news?  Is it your family or social group?  Or, is it Christ Jesus?  On the last Sunday of the church year, November 22, Christ the King, we bow before the feet of a forgiving, loving, saving leader.  He leads us to acts of mercy.  He calls us to make choices not based on wealth or power or self-glory, but based on service.  Oh, come let us worship Him at 10:30 AM this Sunday!

Please give generously in your Thanksgiving offering envelope.  This offering is designated for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.

The new Church Directories are finished! (Thank you, Ann!)  A listing of names, addresses, phones, and emails for our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Come and get your copy on Sunday morning.  They’re going fast.

Ecumenical Community Thanksgiving Service – THIS Sunday, November 22 at 4:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church in Springtown.  Bring non-perishable foods and a cash offering for the Lord’s Pantry.  There will be a joint choir and food/fellowship after the service.

A great big shout out to Georgana and Jim Humphreys, Emma, Alivia, and Charlotte Humphreys for their participation with me in the SleepOUT 4 Homelessness event on November 14.  233 participants raised more than $25,000 for homeless ministries in Bucks/Montgomery Counties.  ELC of Durham youth raised more than $900 for the cause.  Thanks also to Cathy and Matthew Mueller, who helped to build the cardboard shelter where our group slept.  Matthew was unable to sleepOUT due to illness, but he worked hard the week before.  We shared our shelters with Trinity Lutheran and Trinity UCC from Pleasant Valley, along with St. Peter’s Lutheran from Riegelsville.
