Pastor’s Weekly Email Message – November 8, 2015

Don’t miss our worship hour this coming Sunday!  Did you ever hear about the widow who gave away all she had?  Jesus witnessed it.  It will be the sermon focus of our service this Sunday, November 8.   You will also hear a story about the lonely yellow envelope.  Curious?  Come this Sunday and find out!

Veterans will be recognized this Sunday, with special hymns and prayers.

Finally, you will be challenged to sponsor our 4 youth who will be SleepingOUT 4 Homelessness on November 14.  They are Alivia, Emma, and Charlotte Humphries and Matthew Mueller.  Bring your cash or your check book (checks to be made payable to “Keystone Opportunity Center”).  The youth are also collected the following items to help the homeless:

  • New twin-sized sheet sets
  • New twin-sized mattress covers
  • New pillows and new pillow cases
  • Paper products: toilet paper, paper towels, tissues
  • Canned meats, stews, pasta
  • Cereal
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly

Please help support our kids in this worthwhile endeavor!  We don’t dare let them down!!!

Also on November 14th is the Upper Bucks WELCA Conference here at ELC of Durham. Registration begins at 1:00; the program at 1:30.  The theme isGiving Thanks” with the scriptural focus 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – “Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  The Speaker is Karen Reever from Habitat for Humanity, who will speak on their program “A Brush with Kindness.” This is a program to help folks who are not rich but own their homes and need help with exterior repairs to them. Repairs can also include installing handicapped accessible ramps and railings. Everyone attending is invited to bring used items still in good condition that the new Habitat families could purchase at the Habitat Re-Store, such as books (even Reader’s Digest condensed stories), vases, clocks, pictures for the wall, dishes, flat ware, lamps, small appliances, board games etc. Any cash offering will go to Bucks County Habitat for Humanity. If you are interested or could use help of this type, please join us. You do not have to be a member of WELCA to attend.

A Bake Sale for the Free Community Dinner will be held on Sunday, November 15 at the Riegelsville Firehouse.  Baked goods should be delivered by 7C:30 AM.  Free tickets for the December 5 Community Dinner are now available.  Joe Hlavaty will be present to distribute them this Sunday.
