Pastor’s Weekly Email Message – October 30, 2016

500 Years of Faith – 15-17-2017 – Standing firm in the faith for 500 years!

This coming Sunday, October 30, 2016, marks the beginning of a year-long celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.  This festival in the year 2016 is no less a festival intended to celebrate the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in reforming the church everywhere than when Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on October 31, 1517.  “For freedom Christ has set us free…”  (Galatians 5:1) This is the good news!  We are free to celebrate the unity we have with Christians everywhere, to serve, to witness to the world.  Come and worship us at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham this Sunday, October 30, at 10:30 AM!

Kids and families!  On Saturday, October 29, you are invited to “Trunk or Treat” at Trinity Lutheran Church on Route 212 in Pleasant Valley, in the parking lot on the left-hand side, from 5:30-7:30 PM.  There will be a movie, games, hayrides, snacks, and more!  And it’s all free!  Spread the word.
