Volunteers Needed to Help the Homeless

Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks (A.H.U.B.), “Code Blue,” now has a permanent home in the Masonic Lodge at 501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown.  Homeless men and women will be welcomed there between December 1 and the end of March, on any evening when the temperature or wind chill drops below 26o F.

What is provided to them?  Warm overnight shelter, a hot evening meal, continental breakfast, transportation to and from the sheltering site if needed, and caring volunteers.

Volunteers are needed as hosts, drivers, attendants, food providers, food preparers, overnight chaperones, site coordinators, and task force members. A.H.U.B. always needs to expand its supply of volunteers.  Are YOU interested in getting involved – in any capacity?  If so, training is offered.

Training workshops are scheduled for Sunday, November 8th and 15th, at the shelter location.  For first-time volunteers, training is from 3:30-6:00 PM.  For returning volunteers, the refresher is from 4:30-6:00 PM.  Please contact me if you are interested or have any further questions.
