In the sure and certain hope of the resurrection, we announce the death of Anne L. Valent at the age of 91.
Mrs. Anne L. Valent, 91, a current resident of Kintnersville, formerly of Lansford and Andreas, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, in the St. Luke’s Hospice, Bethlehem. She was the widow of Joseph P. “Kayo” Valent, who passed away in 2000.
Born in Summit Hill, she was a daughter of the late Ivan and Helen (Steigerwalt) Darkes. She was a graduate of Summit Hill High School.
She was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, and was a current member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham.
She worked for various garment factories in Lansford. Anne loved to garden and bake but most of all her happiness was being with her family.
Survivors:
Children, Cathy, wife of John Turcmanovich, and Donna Valent, both of Lansford, Nancy, wife of Michael Matsick of Coopersburg, Joanne, wife of George Pepper of Kintnersville, and Joseph, and his wife, Ellen, of Stevens; a sister, Jean Springer of Wilmington, DE; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Darkes; and a grandson, Benjamin Frantz.
Funeral:
Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, with the Rev. James Heckman officiating. Interment, GAR Cemetery, Summit Hill. Calling hour is 10-11 AM.
A memorial service will also be held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham, 821 Durham Rd., Durham, PA on Monday April 10 at 11:00 AM.
